Diego Hidalgo-Mazzei, MD, Psychiatrist and Researcher, Barcelona Bipolar and Depressive Disorders Unit

Diego Hidalgo-Mazzei (MD, PhD) completed his bachelors degree with honors in
Medicine and Surgery at the University of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción in
Paraguay (2007). His degree was recognised in Spain where he specialized in
Psychiatry at the Hospital Clínic of Barcelona (2010-2014). He has been a
psychiatrist and researcher at the Barcelona Bipolar and Depressive Disorders
Unit, Department of Psychiatry and Psychology at Hospital Clínic of Barcelona with
Rio Hortega (2016-2018) and Juan Rodes (2019- ) contracts. Over the last 5 years,
his main field of research has been the use of new technologies in affective
disorders, having participated in several national and international projects
developing and evaluating them. As a result, he has published and collaborated in
several scientific papers (45) in indexed journals on these topics. His dissertation to
receive his doctoral degree (2016) was about the same topic and was awarded a
cum laude mention, extraordinary doctoral award by the University of Barcelona as
well as a prize to the 2016 best doctoral dissertation by the Spanish Association of
Biological Psychiatrists. His current H-index is 14. Additionally, his work has been
recognised with numerous national and international awards. He has worked as a
postdoctoral researcher at the Centre for Affective Disorders, Institute of
Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, King’s College London, UK, where he is
currently a visiting researcher (2017-).
