John Zajecka, M.D. is Associate Professor of Psychiatry and the Director of the Woman’s Board Depression Treatment and Research Center at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago and Skokie, Illinois. Dr. Zajecka has also been in private practice since 1988.
Dr. Zajecka earned his MD at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine. After graduating, he completed his internship and psychiatric residency at Rush.
Dr. Zajecka’s expertise includes the study and treatment of depression, bipolar disorder and anxiety disorders. He has been the principle investigator in over 100 clinical research trials, and has received funding from the National Institute of Mental Health, pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry, and private foundations. He has published extensively on diagnosis, novel treatment approaches, and long-term outcomes in affective disorders, with a special interest in treatment resistant illness. .
Dr. Zajecka received the Upjohn Young Investigators Award for Psychiatric Research and twice received the Special Recognition Award for Training Psychiatric Residents.
