GME Psychiatry Update 2016

The GME Psychiatry Update series of 10 meetings will highlight the latest advances in diagnostic and therapeutic issues in patients with major depression, mixed depression, TD, anxiety disorders, and adult ADHD. This meeting offers 6 hours of CME/CE credits.

Program Overview

The GME Psychiatry Update series of 10 meetings will highlight the latest advances in diagnostic and therapeutic issues in patients with major depression, mixed depression, TD, anxiety disorders, and adult ADHD. This will include reasons for missed diagnosis, changes in DSM-5, and comorbidities. The latest advances in treating all phases of the illness including treatment resistant patients, non-pharmacological therapies, side effects of psychotropics and strategies to make patients active collaborators in their care will be discussed.

 

Target Audience

This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, registered nurses, psychologists, and other healthcare professionals who treat patients with psychiatric illnesses.

 

Educational Objectives

Upon completion of the activity, participants should be better able to:

-Discuss the diagnosis and management of mood and comorbid anxiety disorders, TD and Adult ADHD in psychiatric patients

-Individualize treatment choices, giving consideration to efficacy, safety, long-term data, and unique patient characteristics

-Formulate appropriate treatment regimens considering the emergence of new investigative agents

-Provide appropriate care and counsel for patients and their families.

-Provide accurate and appropriate counsel as part of the treatment team.

Postgraduate Institute for Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 6 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
